A way to gain more backlinking!
Here is what qassia says about their intel:
"You need to add intel. Intel is intelligence, i.e. a snippet of information, sort of like an article or a blog post. The more intel you add, the better. Adding intel is what Qassia is all about. The more intel you add, the more credit you will get, in the form of Qassia dollars. This will make your sites rank better in our directory. And for every intel you add, you get a backlink - this will be picked up by search engines and seen by people who read your intel. Lastly, if your intel gets a lot of pageviews, it may generate advertising revenue, all of which goes to you."
In order to be able to create one you have to be invited. This is how it works:
Just go to my qassi: Sassyfrass.Qassia.com and click the sign up button to the left. Then it will invite you to join!

How It All Started....
I always wrote websites for people's buisnesses. I helped people take their already successful brick and mortar stores or companies and helped them turn into (hopefully) successful online stores or companies. After doing several websites for random people I decided I wanted to think of away to combine my passion for programming and my love of crafting. The perfect combination for me was to create www.SassyfrassCreations.com.
It took a lot of trials and research before I felt like I knew enough to do this. Not only did I have to program and design a secure website, but I also wanted to offer the best product at the lowest prices.
The coding of the website came easy - the design not so much! I went through numberous color schemes before I finally landed on my current combo. Of course I am sure I will change it through the course of time.
Once the code was complete it needed content. I loved designing the individual cards. I could relate so much to what I was creating, so it was a blast. Finding time to upload the images to the database was another thing. I will gather a ton of designs and then finally go out to the database and upload them all.
The other challenge was research. I had to figure out logos, envelope sizes, where to print, what was already out there.
After figuring out all of that I had to come up with packaging.
Through out this blog I am going to document some of the areas that I went through to get my website up and going. Also, I have another section of how to select the perfect photo card. Basically both sides of the coin.
Size Matters! 5X7 or 4X6
When I first started
Note: When creating your own card from scratch and ordering it you will learn quickly that your design in 5X7 compared to a 4X6 is different. The 5X7 tends to cut off some of the design, so you have to make sure that you measure you design our or image prior to submitting it to your favorite personal card maker. It took me awhile to realize that the image you put on the card could be cut off depending on the size of the image. I kept noticing that when I was printing it was where I put the information. Finally I figured out that you have to account for the space that is cut off when creating the 5X7. By default it will cut a .25 inch from the top and bottom (if creation is horizontal). Some photo labs will allow you to adjust up or down what parts will be cut from your photo.

Cardstock VS Photo Paper
Okay, there are two main types of announcements: those done on photo paper and those done on cardstock.
I choose to use 100lb cardstock. Why? I think that the photo paper looks just as great, but I love how durable the cardstock is. I have a two year old that insists on holding every picture we own. Each one of them has a huge crinkle in it from where she pinched it while holding it. Don’t get me wrong, cardstock will also wrinkle too. However, compared to the photo paper I noticed the postcard being more durable. Mainly when you send them out to guests they hold up better in the mail too. Another reason why I choose cardstock is for scrapbooking. I wanted something that would last a lifetime for the person that puts it in the album. For some reason I just became partial to cardstock.
THANK YOU
I was trying to come up with away to reward the people that refer Sassyfrass to their friends and family. After thinking of it I came up with this:
If a person refers someone to our site Sassyfrass and they purchase any creation from us then we will reward you by doing the following:
For the first person you refer we will give you a $10.00 gift certificate to use at Sassyfrass. For anyone thereafter we will give you an additional $5.00 gift certificate to spend at Sassyfrass.
If you save your gift certificate then you can email us to group them all together to use all at once. That means there is a good chance that if you refer just 3 – 4 people you will only have to pay shipping charges!
We will be posting our new Referral Program web page on our site within the next couple of days. Feel free to email us at Nicole@SassyfrassBaby.com if you have any questions or concerns.
